Home is no advantage for Chapman men

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman Tennis Courts have not been "home sweet home" for the Chapman University men's tennis team. After opening the season with six road matches, the Panthers have dropped two in a row at home, including Sunday's 8-1 defeat at the hands of Division I Cornell University (N.Y.).

Senior No. 1 player Clifford Yook rallied from a one-set deficit to beat Jonathan Jaklitsch 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 for the Panthers' lone win on the day. Yook won for the third consecutive time and improved to 6-2 in singles play this year.

Yook and junior Christian Isip fell to 1-5 in doubles as the Panthers No. 1 pair lost 8-4 to Cornell's Jaklitsch and Jonathan Fife.

The Panthers' homestand doesn't get any easier with a match against Division III's No. 6-ranked Amherst College (Mass.) on Thursday. Chapman concludes their home schedule with Colorado College, Occidental and No. 27 Cal Lutheran between now and April 4.
