Panthers earn top draws at Fall Regionals

ORANGE, Calif. -  Chapman University sophomore All-America selection Liz Lewis has earned the No. 1 women's seed in the NCAA Division III Tennis Fall Regionals hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges beginning Friday. Lewis and sophomore Kelley Fox also earned the top draw in the women's doubles bracket. Fox has also been seeded No. 5 in singles. The tournament lasts through Sunday.

Lewis and Fox combined for 37 singles victories last season and went 14-9 as a doubles pair. Lewis reached the semifinals in this event last October.

On the men's side, Chapman senior Clifford Yook earned the No. 4 seed in this weekend's tournament. Yook went 19-5 in singles play last spring, including 13 consecutive victories and was ranked in the top-10 in the West Region all season long. Yook also reached the semifinals at the Fall Regionals last year. Yook and his doubles partner, senior Tyler Martin, are unranked going into their opening round match-up against a Pomona-Pitzer team.

The tournament is the one and only tournament for Division III schools in the fall and will be the basis for preseason rankings to be released in February.
