Yook reaches finals at West Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. -  Chapman University senior Clifford Yook faced a familiar nemesis in the finals at the Wilson ITA Division III West Regionals in Claremont on Sunday. Yook lost 6-2, 7-5 to U.C. Santa Cruz's Max Liberty-Point in the singles championship, ending a strong run by the Panthers' top player.

Yook entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and posted a 5-1 record before falling in the finals, cruising to straight-sets victories in his first three matches. Yook and Liberty-Point met twice last year in tournaments and split the two matches. Yook knocked Liberty-Point out of the same Fall West Regionals in the Round of 16, while Liberty-Point returned the favor in the season-ending Ojai Tournament.

In doubles, Yook and senior Tyler Martin advanced to the second round before being eliminated on Saturday.
