Losing skid snapped as Panthers shutout La Sierra

ORANGE, Calif. –  The Chapman University men’s tennis team snapped a three-match losing skid with a 9-0 win over visiting La Sierra University on Sunday. The Panthers won all nine matches in straight sets and improved to 5-10 overall with the victory.

Senior Christian Isip earned his first victory of the year from the No. 1 position with a 6-2, 6-3 win over La Sierra’s Brandon McCowan. Isip is the Panthers’ leader this season with seven singles wins, five of those coming from the No. 2 position. Senior Luciano Rodriguez won for the sixth time this season with a pair of shutouts, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 match.

Freshman Dylan Tevlin and sophomore Alex Klein were also straight sets winners from the Nos 2 and 3 spots in singles play.

Chapman’s No. 1 doubles team of Isip and Tevlin won their match 8-3 to help the Panthers sweep all three matches in doubles play. The pair improved to 5-9 this season.

The Panthers will play their home finale on Tuesday, April 13 against Pomona-Pitzer College at the Chapman Tennis Courts at 2 p.m.
