Tevlin leads Panthers at ITA Fall Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Chapman University sophomore Dylan Tevlin advanced to the second round at the ITA Division III Fall West Regionals hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges this weekend. Tevlin also teamed with sophomore Giovanni Villicana to reach the quarterfinals of the consolation doubles bracket.

Tevlin reached the Round of 32 on the strength of a 7-6, 6-4 straight sets win over Andy Hansen from Whittier College. However, Tevlin then ran into No. 4 seed Tommy Meyer from Pomona-Pitzer Colleges who defeated the sophomore 6-0, 6-2. Tevlin was then ousted from the consolation bracket by Yushi Ayabe from U.C. Santa Cruz, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0(4).

After dropping their first round match in the doubles tournament, Tevlin and Villicana rebounded in the consolation Round of 16 to beat Victor Chein and Sam Wong from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in a tiebreaker 9-8(6). The pair then lost a tiebreaker in the consolation quarterfinals to U.C. Santa Cruz's Ayabe and Andre Halabi 9-8(3).
