ORANGE, Calif.- After suffering three straight losses, including two consecutive shutouts, the Chapman University men's tennis team recorded a resounding 9-0 victory over Caltech at the Anaheim Hills Racquet Club on Friday. The Panthers timely win came with just one match remaining before entering the Ojai Tournament, which precedes the SCIAC Championships.

Chapman swept all six highly-contested singles matches, highlighted by Troy Akin, who snapped a four match losing streak with a straight-sets win over Devashish Joshi from the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-4. The Panthers' No. 2, Kyle Coates, put together an impressive comeback victory against Rushikesh Joshi, beating him in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 12-10.

While Brett Buford, Sam Farzani and Hunter Morris each won in straight sets, Zach Resnick was pushed to the limit in a three-set match, defeating Ishan Metha, 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 for his first collegiate victory. Meanwhile, Farzani pushed his record from the No. 4 position to 7-6, making him the only Panther with a record above .500.

In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Akin and Buford snapped a four-match losing streak with an 8-4 win over D. Joshi and Luka Mernik that improved their record to 4-12. Meanwhile, Coates played with a new doubles partner, teaming up with Farzani for an 8-6 victory. The No. 3 duo of Morris and Resnick also earned their first win as partners, defeating the Beavers, 8-4.
