Men's water polo falls to Cal Lutheran

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's water polo team fell 21-12 to the visiting Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on Wednesday. Freshman Nate Randolph scored three goals to lead the Panthers.

Cal Lutheran came out of the gates hot and never looked back as Chapman dropped to 8-11 overall and 3-6 in the SCIAC. The scoring happened early and often as the teams combined for 13 goals in the first quarter. Cal Lutheran scored on the majority of its possessions to take a 9-4 lead after the first eight minutes.

The Kingsmen continued to pull away in the second quarter, holding Chapman to just one goal while scoring six for a 15-5 halftime lead. The Panthers outscored the Kingsmen 7-6 in the second half but were unable to get back in the match.

Sophomore Jacob Bullock scored a goal in addition to distributing four assists. Senior Mark Mechtovich scored twice and assisted on two more goals.

The Panthers are back at home on Saturday for an 11 a.m. match against Whittier.
