Lauwers on Pitcher of the Year watchlist

ORANGE, Calif. – A strong start to the season has landed junior Simi Lauwers on the Tucci/NFCA Division III Player & Pitcher of the Year Watch List. She is one of three SCIAC players to be recognized on the list.

THE NFCA released its first watch list for Player & Pitcher of the Year in Division, including 141 players broken down by region. Lauwers was one of 17 players on the Region X list.

Lauwers has posted a 7-1 record with a 1.84 ERA this season. She leads the staff with 49.1 innings pitched in 2023 and has struck out 39 batters against just 10 walks. As a staff, the Panthers lead the SCIAC with a 1.85 ERA and 140 strikeouts.

Chapman takes a four-game win streak and perfect 6-0 SCIAC record into a three-game series with Redlands this weekend. The series begins on Friday at 3 p.m. at El Camino Real Park.
