Six Panthers honored as Academic All-District

ORANGE, Calif. – Six more Panthers, representing three teams, earned Academic All-District VIII honors from the College Sports Communicators. The softball team had three honorees along with two from men's tennis and one from women's tennis.

Olivia Desso represented Chapman women's tennis after another solid year for the Panthers. For men's tennis, Josh Blinder and Danny Marsh earned the distinction. Ilianna Serna, Sam Kennedy and Simi Lauwers were honored on the Academic All-District teams for softball.

Student-athletes who earn Academic All-District honors must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and play in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions while playing a starter or important reserve.

College Sports Communicators began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.

Currently, CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
