Every team over a 3.2, 270 recognized as SCIAC All-Academic

The SCIAC recognized 270 Chapman University student-athletes on its annual All-Academic list. Collectively, Panther student-athletes raised the bar for academic achievement as every team achieved a 3.2 team GPA or better.

Academic awards rolled in for the Chapman University track & field teams as both teams were recognized along with nine individuals. The USTFCCCA annually recognizes team academic achievement with All-Academic awards as well as recognizing individual student-athletes for their athletic and academic achievements.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jesse McMillan finished off the 2022-23 athletic season for Chapman placing 10th in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at St. John Fischer University in Rochester, N.Y.

For the first time ever, the Chapman University women’s track & field team was represented at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The 4x100m relay team of Khyra Stiner, Kaylee Smith, Zoe Zurasky and Makenna Lizarde made Chapman history when they stepped on to the track.

Three relays and four more individuals earned All-Region status for the Chapman University track & field team. Allie Kremer earned All-Region honors in three different events to lead the Panthers.

Women’s relay makes history, qualifies for NCAA Championships alongside McMillan

For the first time in school history, the Chapman University women’s track & field team will be represented at the NCAA Division III Championships. Junior Jesse McMillan will also be returning to the championship meet for the second year in a row.

Chapman Athletics and the Chapman Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the Second Annual Student-Athlete Awards with 21 team and individual awards handed out to honor on and off field achievements.

Two more titles highlight program-best finish at SCIAC Championships

Chapman University’s track & field teams put together a historic performance 12 medal-winning performances, three SCIAC champions and the best team finishes at the SCIAC Championships. The Panthers took fourth in the men’s standings and fifth in the women’s standings with two more event wins on day two.

With the SCIAC Track & Field Championships coming up on April 29-30, Chapman is poised to have one of their best meets in program history. Several Panthers posted strong performances and head into the championship meet in the top-3 in the SCIAC, including Mason Fara, Aliison Kremer, Kaylee Smith, Alec Desuasido, Jadyn Ayala, Azriel Shakur, Nick Burton, and Davis Endow.

Annika Carlson’s steeplechase title highlighted a solid first day for the Chapman University track & field teams at the SCIAC Championships. Another pair of All-SCIAC finishes and several finals qualifiers have Chapman looking for its best finish ever in both the men’s and women’s standings.

Junior Jesse McMillan was selected as the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week after vaulting to a first-place finish at the Whittier Twilight on Friday. McMillan currently leads the SCIAC in the pole vault.

Women's relays lead another record-breaking weekend

It was another record-breaking week for the Chapman University track & field teams at the Whittier Twilight and Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The women’s 4x400m relay highlighted the weekend’s accomplishments.

A steeplechase for the records books had Annika Carlson recognized as the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week. Carlson switched from lacrosse to the track over the weekend to set a Chapman record in the steeplechase.

Both the men’s and the women’s teams beat Caltech. The men won 114-26 and the women took home a 131-22 victory. They both fell to CMS, however, 120.5-36.5 for the men and 92-71 for the women.

School records fall over the weekend

The Chapman University track & field teams continued to break records through the early weeks of the outdoor season at the Mangrum Invitational and the Team 4 Titus and Ely Invitational. Five more school records were broken between the two meets.
