Record-breaking Carlson named SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – A steeplechase for the records books had Annika Carlson recognized as the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week. Carlson switched from lacrosse to the track over the weekend to set a Chapman record in the steeplechase.

Carlson, who is a starting midfielder on the women's lacrosse team, used a bye week to make her return to the track and run the 3000m steeplechase. She ran an 11:47.48 to win the event at SCIAC Multi-Dual 2 and break the Chapman record by four seconds.

In the early weeks of the outdoor season, Carlson ranks in the top-40 of the NCAA Division III in the steeplechase and leads the SCIAC in the event.

She returns to the lacrosse field this week while the track & field team heads to the Pomona-Pitzer Invite.
