Women's relays lead another record-breaking weekend

ORANGE, Calif. – It was another record-breaking week for the Chapman University track & field teams at the Whittier Twilight and Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The women's 4x400m relay highlighted the weekend's accomplishments.

At the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, the team of Kaylee Smith, Allie Kremer, Makenna Lizarde and Proud Kitnitchiva combined for a winning time of 3:52.54. The Panthers defeated teams from Division I Cal State Bakersfield, as well as Division II and SCIAC opponents. The Panthers set a school record and currently rank second in Division III while leading the SCIAC by 10 seconds.

The women's 4x100m relay team of Lizarde, Smith, Kremer and Zoe Zurasky also broke a school record with a 47.49 at the Whittier Twilight, placing second in the event. The Panthers' time ranks third in the SCIAC. Kremer went on to break her own 200m dash record (again!) with a 25.30 to take third in the event.

Nick Burton was another record-breaker as the newcomer surpassed his own school record in the javelin with a throw of 56.19 meters (184-feet, 4-inches). He won the event with the second-longest throw in the SCIAC this season. Burton also placed third in the 200m dash and fourth in the 100m dash. In both races, Mason Fara finished one place in front of Burton as both rank in the top-15 of the SCIAC in both events.

Jesse McMillan cleared 4.76 meters in the pole vault for the second time this season to win the event at the Whittier Twilight. His mark leads the SCIAC and ranks ninth nationally.

The Panthers' busy schedule continues this week with the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State on Thursday and the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3 on Saturday.
