Track & field earns All-Region awards

ORANGE, Calif. – Three relays and four more individuals earned All-Region status for the Chapman University track & field team. Allie Kremer earned All-Region honors in three different events to lead the Panthers.

Kremer was a part of the women's 4x400m and 4x100m All-Region teams as well as earning an individual award in the 400m dash. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association annually honors the top-5 athletes and top-3 relays in all 10 regions. Kremer was the top 400m runner in the West with a time of 57.25.

The women's 4x100m relay of Kremer, Makenna Lizarde, Kaylee Smith and Khyra Stiner qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with a time of 46.87 – the second-best in the West – at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet. Kremer, Lizarde and Smith were joined by Proud Kitnitchiva on the 4x400m relay team that ranked first in the West with a 3:51.15 – just missing the cut to qualify for nationals.

Annika Carlson and Kalea Brown each earned All-Region recognition as well. Carlson – the SCIAC champion in the steeplechase – ranked third in the West Region with an 11:01.86. Brown reach the podium at the SCIAC Championships and ranked fifth in the West Region with a school record mark of 3.67 meters (12-feet, 0.5-inches).

Jesse McMillan earned All-Region honors for the second year in a row in the pole vault. He increased his school record up to 4.91 meters (16-feet, 1.25-inches) to also qualify for the national championship meet for the second year in a row.

Finally, the men's 4x400m relay teams ended the season with the third best time in the West Region – a school record mark of 3:15.37. The quartet of Ewen Shen, Mason Fara, Sam Thompson and Nick Burton ran the Panthers' best time, and third-fastest in the region, at the APU Franson Last Chance in May.

McMillan and the women's 4x100m relay will each compete at the NCAA Division III Championships this week with the relay running on Thursday and McMillan jumping on Friday.
