ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team fell 21-6 to No. 22 Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday on Wilson Field. Mei-Lani Ferreira and Jessica Ricketts combined to score five goals for the Panthers.

The Sagehens, who had given up just seven goals combined in their first three matches, jumped on top early. Fiona Lewis had a hat trick in the first few minutes and the Panthers trailed 9-1 after the first quarter.

Despite Pomona-Pitzer scoring 21 goals, Anna Hereu made 12 saves in the contest. Ricketts picked up seven draw controls and Liv Huntley-Robertson caused a pair of turnovers.

Ricketts scored Chapman first goal in the first and the Panthers were able to follow with a pair of goals in the second and third quarters. However, Pomona-Pitzer continued to pull away for its fourth  win in a row to open the year.

The Panthers suffered their first loss of the young season but return to Wilson Field on Mar. 8 to host Occidental in another 7 p.m. SCIAC match.
