Five Panthers earn All-SCIAC honors

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team earned five All-SCIAC selections after a third place finish to end the regular season. Jessica Ricketts, Annika Carlson, Liv Huntley-Robertson and Sophia Bitis all earned their first career selections for the Panthers while Sophie Pelton earned an All-SCIAC honor for the second consecutive year.

Three earned First Team honors with Bitis and Pelton being named to the Second Team. Huntley-Robertson was one of five freshmen to earn All-SCIAC First Team honors.

Ricketts earned her first career postseason award after a record-breaking season. The senior middie from Thousand Oaks, Calif. led the SCIAC with 69 draw controls in SCIAC matches on the way to breaking the school record for draw controls in a season and a career. Ricketts posted career-highs in nearly every statistical category while ranking seventh in the SCIAC in goals scored and 12th in total points.

Carlson earned her second All-SCIAC in honor in less than a week with her first career First Team selection in lacrosse. On Saturday, she won the women's steeplechase at the SCIAC Championships after scoring three goals in the win over Whittier. The sophomore from Tiburon, Calif. led the Panthers in scoring this year – ranking fifth in the SCIAC with 28 goals scored and sixth with 38 total points in SCIAC matches. She also ranked in the top-10 in the conference in shots on goal and draw controls.

Huntley-Robertson helped solidify a Chapman defense that ranked second in the conference in goals against with a 10.45 GAA in the 12 SCIAC matches. The Panthers were also third in caused turnovers with the freshman from Summit, N.J. leading the team. Her 26 caused turnovers in SCIAC matches ranked second in the conference and her 22 ground balls ranked 10th.

Bitis was another record-breaker for Chapman with 27 assists on the year to set the new single season mark at Chapman. With 16 of those assists coming in SCIAC matches, the senior from Sag Harbor, N.Y. ranked fifth in the conference. She also scored seven goals in SCIAC matches while starting all 12 matches.

Pelton was another solid defender for the Panthers, helping the Panthers to the second-least number of goals allowed in the SCIAC. She caused seven turnovers and picked up 19 ground balls against SCIAC opponents while also scoring her first career goal in just her second career shot.

The Panthers head to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the semifinal of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament tomorrow at 7 p.m.
