Four honored as All-SCIAC, Roux also wins Award of Distinction

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team landed four selections on the All-SCIAC team with senior Jessie Roux also being honored with the SCIAC Award of Distinction. Roux was also a Second Team selection along with fellow senior Cate Combi while seniors Riley Pidgeon and Kelsey Bland earn spots on the First Team.

Pidgeon won the SCIAC scoring title with 12 goals in SCIAC matches – double the amount of anyone else in the conference – to secure All-SCIAC honors for the second time in her career. She was 4-for-4 in penalty kicks and also led the SCIAC with three game-winners. The San Diego, Calif. native scored in eight of Chapman's 12 SCIAC matches, scoring a hat trick against Caltech. Bland joined Pidgeon on the First Team as the First Team goalkeeper. The San Clemente, Calif. native had a 0.97 goals against average in SCIAC contests and came up with 49 saves. Her four SCIAC shutouts also ranked third in the conference. The First Team nod is the first postseason honor of Bland's career.

Roux was recognized on the Second Team after having the best offensive numbers of her career. The senior captain from Trabuco Canyon, Calif. was a workhorse in the midfield for the Panthers. She also scored the game-winner in Chapman's win over Pomona-Pitzer and assisted on another goal in the win over La Verne.

She was won the SCIAC Award of Distinction for her work off the field. A captain for the Panthers, Roux is a member of Chapman's Engineering Advisory Panel and serves as a leader and ambassador for the Fowler School of Engineering, as well as an advisor to the Dean's Office. She is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which provides support and an opportunity for student-athletes to come together and provides a space to share in their faith. She is a member of the Delta Gamma sorority helping empower women and offering time and service to philanthropic events. She is a Hospitality Team volunteer, and a volunteer at Saddleback Church in Anaheim, Calif. as a welcomer/greeter.

Combi was selected to the Second Team for her first career honor. The outside back from Lafayette, Calif. started in every match, helping the Panthers to a 1.05 goals against average for the SCIAC season. Chapman allowed just nine shots per game in the SCIAC season and posted four shutouts.

The third-seeded Panthers head to second-seeded Cal Lutheran for the SCIAC semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m.
