Bland honored as Scholar All-American, Roux Scholar All-Region

ORANGE, Calif. – Seniors Kelsey Bland and Jessi Roux added another prestigious award to their seasons as the United Soccer Coaches announced its Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-America teams. Bland was selected as a Second Team Scholar All-America goalkeeper while Roux was one of the midfielders on the Scholar All-West Region team.

The Unites Soccer Coaches' Scholar All-Region and All-America awards celebrate student-athletes for excelling both on the classroom and on the pitch. Players must be at least juniors with a 3.4 GPA or better and be an elite player as supported by playing honors and contributions to the team.

Bland was recognized as one of the top scholar goalkeepers in Division III. The First Team All-SCIAC and All-Region selection also owns a 3.5 GPA. With no goalkeepers honored on the Scholar All-America First Team, Bland was one of two to earn the Second Team distinction. She was also the only keeper to be included in the Scholar All-West Region team.

Roux previously was a Second Team All-SCIAC and All-Region selection in addition to earning the SCIAC Award of Distinction. Her 3.95 GPA was the highest listed on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region team.

Bland became the first Panther to earn a spot on the Scholar All-America teams from the United Soccer Coaches. Most recently, Faith Holloway earned back-to-back Scholar All-West Region awards.

Bland and Roux helped the Panthers to a 9-5-2 overall record this year and a third place finish in the SCIAC standings.
