Wins against Whitman and Trinity puts women's tennis back on track

ORANGE, Calif. – The No. 15 Chapman University women's tennis team got back-to-back victories this week over Whitman College and Trinity College. After starting the season with six losses in their first seven matches, the Panthers have reversed that trend, having now won six of their last eight matches.

On Thursday, Chapman (7-8) defeated Whitman College 7-2, despite the duo of Liz Lewis and Kelley Fox losing the No. 1 doubles match 8-5 to Whitman's Elise Otto and Alyssa Roberg. Chapman's No. 2 doubles team of Melissa Boyer and Genna Ford along with the No. 3 doubles team of Kelley Klebenow and Danielle Kaiden each won handily, winning 8-2 and 8-1, respectively. In singles play, Chapman won five of six matches, all in two sets to get the victory.

Against Trinity on Friday, Chapman won 8-1, its lone loss coming in singles play as Sheehan Trippel was defeated by Frances Cameron in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 8-10. The Panthers swept their way through doubles play and then won each of its other five singles matches in two sets highlighted by Ford who ran her record this season to 15-3 with a  6-2, 6-4 victory.
