Saunders wins but Panthers fall
ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Madeline Saunders picked up her second dual win of the season but the Chapman University women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Vassar. Saunders overcame a slow start to win the No. 1 singles match.
At the top of the lineup for Chapman, Saunders overcame a 6-0 loss in the first set to capture the match. She won 6-4 to force a third set and then won 10-4 in the super tiebreaker to capture the final point for Chapman.
Vassar swept through the doubles with wins of 8-5, 8-0 and 8-3. The Panthers dropped four singles matches in straight sets and Vassar captured the No. 3 match by retirement.
The Panthers are back at the Anaheim Tennis Center tomorrow to face Colby.
