Women’s tennis routs Lake Forest 9-0
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team routed the visiting Lake Forest 9-0 earlier this afternoon behind a come-from-behind 10-point tiebreaker from freshman Alisa Ogranovich.
After winning her doubles match 8-4 with partner and fellow freshman Madison Ross on the No. 2 court, Ogranovich took to the No. 1 court for her singles match. The rookie went down early with a 6-4 first set loss, but bounced back to take the second set 6-2 against Forester freshman Julie Lord. Since the Panthers had already taken the match, the two faced off for a 10-point tiebreaker.
Lord went up by four points early, but Ogranovich answered with some powerful hitting and tied the tiebreaker at nine all. The two went back-and-forth until they were tied at 14 points apiece. Ogranovich scored two consecutive points to take the match and give the Panthers a shutout and their second win of the season.
Doubles teams of freshmen Isabella Oedekerk and Jordan Craft and freshman Vasilisa Trofimova and Raven Hampton both won their matches 8-2 to give Chapman a 3-0 lead heading into the singles matches.
Ross and Craft put a couple of goose eggs up on the board on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, beating both of their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Oedekirk won 6-1, 6-0 on the No. 2 court, while Trofimova won 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 5 and Hampton won 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 6.
Chapman returns to Lastinger Tennis Center tomorrow, March 17 at 1 p.m. as they take on Vassar College.
