Utsugi recognized as SCIAC Specialist of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. - Senior libero Sara Utsugi helped the Panthers to a 2-1 record this week in which they saw victories over Caltech and Occidental, earning the SCIAC Specialist of the Week.

The Aiea, Hawaii native totaled 53 digs, averaging 4.82 digs per set, including 20 in Chapman's loss to Redlands. Utsugi also contributed six assists and a service ace in the Panthers' three-match week.

With her 19 digs on Saturday against Occidental, Utsugi became just the sixth Panther to reach 1,000 career digs. The libero is well on her way to entering the top-five career digs leaders in Chapman history.

Chapman returns home Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7pm to host Whittier College in another SCIAC matchup.
