Volleyball bests Cal Lutheran in four

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman women's volleyball team defeated Cal Lutheran 3-1 at home in their second matchup of the 2021 season, the Panthers defeated the Regals 3-2 when they faced in Sept.

The Panthers took an early lead and won the first set 19-25. Chapman took the momentum into the second and finished 24-16 after coming back from a 12-4 deficit early in the set.

The Panthers trailed the Regals for the majority of the third set and fell 25-17 forcing the match to go into the fourth. Chapman and Cal Lutheran were tied at 16-16 before the Panthers pulled ahead and secured the win with a 25-22 final.

Senior Jessi Lumsden tallied 25 kills on the day alongside her 11 digs, she was followed closely by classmate Sophie Srivastava who totaled 13 kills and nine digs and Erika Wiles with 19 digs. The Panthers secured 58 kills compared to the Regals 47 and 72 digs to Cal Lutherans 54.

Chapman hits the road to face Caltech on Tues., Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. and returns to Hutton to face Redlands on Fri., Oct. 22.
