Cross country teams take eighth at Pomona-Pitzer Invite

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Maddie Mirro placed in the top-15 to lead the Chapman University cross country teams at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday. Both teams took eighth place in the team standings.

Mirro's personal-best time of 22:56 in the women's 6k placed her 14th overall. Her time makes her the second-fastest to complete the 6k in Chapman history. With Mirro leading the way, Chapman also had the lowest average time as a team in school history, clocking in at 24:14.

Frehsman Tasha Kotz was the next Panther to cross the finish line after Mirro at 23:51.2 in 36th. Freshman Annika Carlson came in 52nd with a 24:34.1. Sophomore Grace Coleman and junior Jordan Diaz finished off the team scoring for Chapman. Coleman finished in 24:52.8 in 59th and Diaz took 61st at 24:59.0.

In the men's 8k, the Panthers averaged a 27:24 and took eighth place as a team. Sophomore Zach Leith led the Panthers with a 26:51.8 in 53rd. Junior Aidan White came in 64th with 27:15.7 and junior Anthony Hart's 27:30.0 placed him 73rd.

Freshman Landon Davies and junior Charles Sakamaki finished off the team scoring with Davies crossing the finish line at 27:42.8 and Sakamaki at 27:44.5.

The Panthers have one more tune up before the SCIAC Championships at the end of the month. They head to the Titan Invitational on Oct. 22.
