Mirro declared NCAA Championship individual qualifier

ORANGE, Calif.- Runners who will compete in the 2021 NCAA Division III women's cross country championships were announced Sunday afternoon. Chapman cross country athlete Maddie Mirro was declared a West Region women's individual qualifier.

 Mirro ran a personal best 6k Saturday morning at Regionals in Claremont and took 11th in the race. She secured a 22:35.8 beating her SCIAC Championship time of 22:48.6. She holds the second fastest time in school history.

 The first seven student athletes from each region that were not part of a qualifying team were selected to participate in each championship race.

Spalding University and the Louisville sports commission will host the championships on Nov. 20 at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park is Louisville, Kentucky. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern.
