An impressive number of Chapman University student-athletes were again recognized for their work in the classroom. The Panthers placed 178 student-athletes on the SCIAC’s annual All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.

Chapman University Athletics celebrated all the successes of the past year with its annual Jog-a-thon on Friday and announced its annual senior departmental awards. The Panthers awarded male and female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, as well as male and female Leadership awards.

Senior Marco Saglimbeni claimed yet another award as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America selected him to the Scholar All-America second team. He was also honored on the NSCAA’s Scholar All-West Region first team.

Senior Marco Saglimbeni and junior Elliott Braund continued the fall awards season with All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Second Team honors were the second All-Region honors of Saglimbeni’s career while Braund’s Third Team nod was his first regional honor.

Season comes to an end with 2-0 loss in NCAA Second Round

The Chapman University men’s soccer team had its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to No. 3 Trinity in the second round of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer championship. The Panthers (15-6-2) advanced through the first round for the first time in 18 years but saw their tournament run come to a close.

Junior Elliott Braund scored in the eighth minute and the Chapman University men’s soccer team advanced with a 1-0 win over UT-Dallas on Saturday. With the win, the Panthers advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer championship tomorrow at 3 p.m. (PT).

For the first time in program history University of Texas Dallas and Chapman University meet up for a battle in the NCAA Division III Tournament first round in San Antonio, Texas. The winner will move on to the second round to play the winner of the Trinity-Whitworth match on Sunday.

The Chapman University men’s soccer team fell 2-0 to the No. 1 seed University of Redlands on Saturday night in the SCIAC Tournament Championship at Farquhar field. The No. 3 seed Panthers finished the season with 14 wins, a programs best since 1999.
