Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented during the 2013-14 academic year as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s soccer, which garnered a conference-best 14 honorees.

Chapman University women’s tennis players Rachel Fox and Andrea Hammer have been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III All-America team for the 2014 season after reaching the NCAA national championship quarterfinals last month. It is the first career All-America award for each woman.

Chapman duo eliminated in NCAA quarterfinals

Having advanced beyond any women’s duo in Chapman University history, doubles partners Andrea Hammer and Rachel Fox saw their NCAA Division III championships run come to an end at the Bizantz Family Tennis Center on Friday evening. The Panthers lost in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 to Amherst College (Mass.) in the quarterfinals of the national championship tournament.

Chapman University women’s tennis duo Andrea Hammer and Rachel Fox advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships doubles quarterfinals with a win on Thursday night at the Bizantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont. The Panthers’ straight-sets 6-4, 6-3 win over Washington & Lee University (Va.) made history, as they became the first female pair to ever reach the NCAA quarterfinals.

The draws have been set and Chapman University women’s tennis players Andrea Hammer and Rachel Fox are ready for the NCAA Division III Championships, which begin on Thursday at the Bizantz Family Tennis Center hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.

The Chapman University women’s tennis team had two players earn All-SCIAC honors Wednesday as sophomore Andrea Hammer and junior Sophia Duong each earned spots on the second team following impressive 2014 seasons.

Chapman University sophomore tennis player Andrea Hammer has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis singles championships, while she and junior Rachel Fox have also earned a berth in the doubles championships. The tournaments will take place at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges May 22-24.

Battle of nationally-ranked teams goes to La Verne, 5-4

The Chapman University women's tennis team came up short on Saturday at the Anaheim Hills Racquet Club, losing to the University of La Verne by a score of 5-4 in a SCIAC matchup of two nationally-ranked teams. The loss drops Chapman to fifth place in the SCIAC standings.

Comback win is No. 30 Panthers' third straight

The Chapman University women’s tennis team won for the third straight time – a season-best win streak – defeating visiting UC Santa Cruz 5-4 in a non-conference match at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon. The No. 30-ranked Panthers narrowly edged the Banana Slugs thanks to straight sets wins in the final two singles matches of the day.

Women's tennis wraps busy two weeks with a shutout

The Chapman University women’s tennis team wrapped up a busy two-week stretch that included seven home matches in 14 days with a 9-0 shutout win over visiting Lewis & Clark College on Saturday evening at the Chapman Tennis Courts. The win gave the Panthers an above-.500 home stand, going 4-3 during the two weeks and climbing into the top-30 in NCAA Division III.

No. 23-ranked Panthers defeat Salisbury, UT-Tyler

Recently cracking the top-30 of the Division III rankings, the Chapman University women’s tennis team won again on Monday, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with an 8-1 victory over visiting Salisbury University (Md.) at the Chapman Tennis Courts. The win came two days after a 6-3 loss to another top-30 team Vassar College (N.Y.) on Saturday at home and capped a busy weekend that included a 7-2 win over Texas-Tyler.

Women's tennis falls to No. 11 WashU, beats No. 23 Trinity

The Chapman University women’s tennis team split a pair of matches against two nationally-ranked opponents this week, falling to No. 11 Washington University (Mo.) 7-2 on Sunday before knocking off No. 23 Trinity University (Texas) 5-4 on Tuesday behind a match-clinching victory by senior Kelley Klebenow.

Hammer leads Panthers to shutout over Bates

The Chapman University women’s tennis team bounced back from a tough conference loss on Saturday to defeat Bates College, 9-0 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Wednesday. The Panthers swept doubles play and controlled individual action as well, winning in just two sets in five of the six matchups.
