Water polo duo garners All-America honors

For the third year in a row, Chapman University had two women’s water polo players named to the 2011 NCAA Division III All-America team by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). Sophomore utility Sam Martin and freshman utility Juliana Botting both earned honorable mention for the first time in their careers.

A defensive struggle between two of Division III’s top-ranked teams ended with a 9-4 victory for visiting Whittier College over the Chapman University women’s water polo team at the Allred Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. Whittier, ranked No. 4 in Division III, jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back against the No. 7 Panthers.
Lancers pull away to beat Chapman 17-11

A strong finish by the visiting Cal Baptist University women’s water polo team broke open an otherwise close game with host Chapman University and the Lancers held on for a 17-11 victory at the Allred Pool on Friday evening. The loss snapped Chapman’s three-match home winning streak and dropped the Panthers to 7-4 at the Allred Pool.
Panthers score season-high 20 in another home win

The Chapman University water polo team scored a season-high 20 goals and defeated visiting Caltech 20-5 at the Allred Olympic Pool on Wednesday evening. The Panthers improved to 6-3 at home this season and have won six of their past eight matches overall.

The Chapman University women's water polo team made it two in a row with another lopsided 18-6 victory over visiting Macalester College (Minn.) at the Allred Aquatics Center on Wednesday evening. Just three days after scoring 18 goals against U.C. Irvine's club team, the Panther offense was at it again, equaling its highest offensive output of the year for second straight game.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team saw its brief two-game winning streak halted with an 8-7 loss to visiting Villanova University’s club team at the Allred Aquatics Center on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats snapped a 6-6 tie early in the fourth quarter and added an insurance goal with 49 seconds remaining to beat the Panthers.

In a pair of games against fellow top-10 ranked teams, the No. 7 ranked Chapman University women’s water polo team earned two important victories – their first two of the year – as part of the Chapman Tournament at the Allred Aquatics Center on Sunday. The Panthers defeated No. 8 Grove City College (Pa.) 10-6 and then concluded the tournament with a 12-10 win over No. 10 University of La Verne.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team opened the season with a pair of losses on the first day of its own Chapman Tournament at the Allred Aquatics Center on Saturday. After starting the season with a 14-3 defeat to No. 1 Occidental College in the morning, the Panthers rallied but could not earn their first victory of the season in a 9-7 loss to Mercyhurst College (Pa.).

The Chapman University women’s water polo team will open the 2011 campaign ranked No. 7 in the Division III preseason polls according to the Collegiate Water Polo Association. The Panthers kick off the season at their own Chapman Tournament beginning Friday at the Allred Aquatics Center where they will face three of the top 10 teams in Division III.
