Chapman diver making a splash on 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Chapman University freshman diver and dance major Mariah Spears is making a splash in a bigger arena than the Allred Aquatics Center this summer. Spears' latest venture is in reality television where this week she was named one of the top-20 finalists in the dance competition program 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
Case becomes first Panther to earn All-SCIAC honors in the pool

Chapman University junior distance swimmer Julie Case has earned All-SCIAC honors after taking first place in the women’s 1,650-yard freestyle on Tuesday at the conference championships at Splash! La Mirada. The SCIAC champion becomes the first Chapman swimmer ever to earn All-Conference honors.

Three Chapman divers earn spots in SCIAC Finals

Three Chapman University women’s divers qualified for the SCIAC finals, competing at the 2012-13 SCIAC Diving Preliminaries at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center on Saturday and Sunday. The Panthers boasted three of the top eight divers in the women’s 3 meters on Saturday, led by senior Kiernan Gilbert. The senior then made it two-for-two on Sunday, earning a berth in the 1-meter finals, as well.
M&M girls lead Chapman women in pool against La Verne

Another strong effort by the Chapman University women’s swimming and diving team gave the Panthers a 212-95 victory over visiting University of La Verne in a SCIAC meet at the Allred Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Amanda Morris and Samantha McLaughlin put together big performances to help lead the way.

The Chapman University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were swept by visiting Whittier College on Saturday in a SCIAC matchup at the Allred Aquatics Center. The Poet women defeated the Panthers by an overall score of 135-108 while their men trumped Chapman 142.5-69.5.

The Chapman University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams made their SCIAC debuts on Saturday in a dual meet against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont. The Panther women lost 180-115 to the Sagehens, while the men also fell by a score of 182-85.
Gilbert takes fourth at Chapman's opening dive competition

Chapman University senior diver Kiernan Gilbert earned a fourth-place finish in the women’s 3-meter finals at the Redlands Dive Invitational on Saturday at the Thompson Aquatic Center. Gilbert placed fourth out of 14 divers in the 3-meter event with an overall score of 166.30.

The Chapman University women’s and men’s, yes men’s, swimming teams made their season debut at the Pomona-Pitzer Fall Relays on Saturday in Claremont. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in third place in the three-team meet that also featured Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier College.
Chapman Athletics announces staff additions for 2012-13

Effective August 1, Chapman University Athletics has added some new and familiar faces to its coaching staff for the 2012-13 school year. Most notably, the Panthers have retained women’s lacrosse head coach Brian Eisenberg ’99 to lead the program into its first year of varsity status and play at the NCAA Division III and SCIAC levels.

Chapman University Athletics has officially promoted two of its sports programs from club to varsity status beginning this 2012-13 school year. Women’s lacrosse and men’s swimming and diving will compete at the NCAA Division III level and will immediately join Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition along with the rest of Chapman’s athletics programs.
