Chapman athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented during the 2013-14 academic year as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s soccer, which garnered a conference-best 14 honorees.

NSCAA names Sobol, Echeverry to All-West Region teams

Two of the top scorers in Chapman University’s soccer history have earned All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Senior M Val Sobol earned All-Region second team honors on the women’s side, while senior F Nick Echeverry was also named to the men’s second team.

A pair of Chapman University men’s soccer players in senior F Nick Echeverry and sophomore M Boston Kimmel have been named All-Conference as announced Wednesday by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). The duo led the Panthers to their first-ever SCIAC postseason appearance, posting a 12-8-2 record including a 9-6-1 mark in conference play.

A Cal Lutheran goal six minutes into sudden death overtime, spelled sudden death for the Chapman University men’s soccer team as the host Kingsmen earned the SCIAC Postseason Tournament championship with the 1-0 win at Rolland Stadium on Saturday night.

A late-season surge led the Chapman University men’s soccer team up the conference standings to its first-ever SCIAC Postseason Tournament berth. The Panthers won eight of their final 11 matches to secure the fourth spot in the tournament, setting up a Wednesday match against the first-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Men's soccer one step closer to first SCIAC berth after Senior Day win

In its final home match of the regular season, the Chapman University men’s soccer team defeated Pomona-Pitzer, 1-0, moving one win closer to the program’s first-ever SCIAC postseason tournament berth. The Panthers’ victory at Wilson Field on Saturday marked the eighth win in their last nine contests and has given the club the third-best record in the conference among playoff-eligible teams.

The Chapman University men’s soccer team remained red hot on Monday night, earning an important 2-0 win over visiting Occidental College at Wilson Field for its third consecutive victory. The Panthers have now won seven of their last eight matches and are 7-1-1 since Sept. 25.

Someone in the SCIAC found a way to cool down the Chapman University men’s soccer team and it was a familiar foe. Visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges continued to own the Panthers’ number on Saturday night, defeating host Chapman 3-0 at Wilson Field.

Men's soccer plays through rain for fourth straight win

For the first time this season, the Chapman University men’s soccer team braved the elements, playing through rain to earn a 1-0 win over the La Verne Leopards at Wilson Field on Wednesday. The victory marked the Panthers’ fourth straight conference win and their third straight shutout.

Missed opportunities frustrate Panthers in 3-1 loss to Cal Lu

Two days after matching a school record with five goals, the Chapman University men’s soccer team failed to convert on several prime opportunities, dropping a 3-1 match to Cal Lutheran on Wednesday at Wilson Field. The Panthers tallied 18 shots in the match, but multiple shots off the posts told the heartbreaking story as their two-game win streak came to an abrupt end.
