An impressive number of Chapman University student-athletes were again recognized for their work in the classroom. The Panthers placed 178 student-athletes on the SCIAC’s annual All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.

Chapman University Athletics celebrated all the successes of the past year with its annual Jog-a-thon on Friday and announced its annual senior departmental awards. The Panthers awarded male and female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, as well as male and female Leadership awards.

Freshman defender Faith Holloway was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region third team. Holloway was a mainstay on the Panthers’ back line, starting all 20 matches this year.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team landed four Panthers on the 2016 SCICAC All-Conference Women’s Soccer team as voted on by Coaches. Senior goalkeeper Kristin Kleinow, sophomore midfielder Lindsay Erl and freshman defender Faith Holloway each earned second team honors.

The Chapman University women’s soccer team’s run through the SCIAC Tournament came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday. CMS scored two goals in each half to grab the tournament title and the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

An improbable season took a nearly impossible turn as the Chapman University women’s soccer team advanced to the SCIAC Tournament championship on penalty kicks at Pomona-Pitzer. Senior Kristin Kleinow stopped all five Sagehen PK attempts while senior Katie Bell drove in the lone goal of a 1-0 decision in penalty kicks.

Freshman Rachel Lustig scored a pair of goals for the Panthers but the Chapman University women’s soccer team fell 4-3 to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at Wilson Field. Seniors Kourtney Kingsmore and Julia Diaz each earned an assist in the Panthers senior match.

Despite outshooting the Poets, the Chapman University women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Whittier at Wilson Field on Saturday night. Senior Katie Bell and sophomore Lindsay Erl led the Panthers (5-6-1, 2-5-1 SCIAC) with five shots each.
