Trio of men's soccer players named second team All-SCIAC

A trio of Chapman University men’s soccer players in sophomore D Mikey Stoddard, freshman M Boston Kimmel and senior F Mauricio Alfonso have been named second team All-Conference as announced Tuesday by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). All three were starters for a Chapman team that finished in sixth place in the conference with an 8-10-1 overall record, 7-8-1 in SCIAC play.

Onorati named to Capital One Academic All-District first team

Chapman University men’s soccer senior defender Francesco Onorati has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Occidental College men’s soccer team came from behind to spoil ‘Senior Day’ for Chapman University, handing the Panthers a 2-1 loss in the final game of the season for both teams.

First half deficit too much to overcome in 4-1 loss to loss to CMS

A four-goal first half put the Chapman University men’s soccer team in a hole it couldn’t recover from as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps came away with a 4-1 win on Monday night at Wilson Field. The loss dims Chapman’s SCIAC postseason tournament chances as the team now sits behind Whittier for the final spot with two matches to play.

Caltech keeps it close but Chapman prevails 2-0

For 53 minutes Caltech hung around, but a pair of second half goals gave the Chapman University men’s soccer team a 2-0 win on Saturday night at Wilson Field and kept the team’s SCIAC postseason tournament hopes alive. Chapman (7-8-1, 6-6-1) sits a half game behind Whittier for the fourth and final playoff.

First place Pomona-Pitzer shuts out Chapman 2-0

Similar to the teams match in September, Pomona-Pitzer held the Chapman University men’s soccer team scoreless en route to a 2-0 win on Wednesday night at Wilson Field. Chapman has now dropped three of its last four matches and is in sixth place in the SCIAC while Pomona-Pitzer has won six in a row and sits atop the conference standings.

Yepez, Cal Lutheran too much as Chapman drops match 5-1

Senior F Raul Yepez scored two goals and added an assist as visiting Cal Lutheran ran away with a 5-1 win over the Chapman University men’s soccer team on Saturday night at Wilson Field. The loss drops Chapman to 3-3-1 at home this season and gives Cal Lutheran a leg up in the SCIAC standings.

Back in the win column after 4-0 victory over La Verne

The Chapman University men’s soccer team used goals from four different players to run away with a 4-0 victory over the University of La Verne on Saturday night at Wilson Field, ending Chapman’s three game winless streak. Chapman scored two more goals tonight than the team had scored in its three previous outings.

Second half push comes up short in 2-1 loss to UC Santa Cruz

Down by two goals in the second half, the Chapman University men’s soccer team put some pressure on visiting UC Santa Cruz, but came up short, as Santa Cruz escaped with a 2-1 win on Sunday night at Wilson Field. Chapman had won the previous three matches in the series with Santa Cruz’s last victory over Chapman coming in 2010.

Carrillo earns 150th career win in Chapman's first-ever SCIAC match

A four-goal second half broke the game open as the Chapman University men’s soccer team earned a 5-0 win over Whittier College on Wednesday night at Wilson Field to give Chapman its first-ever conference win in SCIAC across all sports. With the win, Chapman head coach Eddie Carrillo notched the 150th win of his career, all at Chapman.

In its last two games dating back to 2011, the Chapman University men’s soccer team had not registered a goal, but that changed as the team pulled out a 3-2 win over Whitman College on Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field for its first win of the season.

Season-opener spoiled as Hope International pulls out 2-0 win

For 80 minutes, the Chapman University men’s soccer team played a strong game defensively. But a 10 minute stretch in the second half proved to be costly as Chapman gave up a pair of goals to drop its season-opener 2-0 to Hope International University Friday evening at Wilson Field.

A return postseason trip within reach for men's soccer

With 11 players back who started at least six games on last season’s NCAA playoff team, the Chapman University men’s soccer team has the players in place to make a return trip to the postseason, and advance. Chapman (11-5-3) has made postseason appearances in two of the last three years, but on both occasions, has been eliminated in the first round.
