The junior goaltending duo of Kirsten Spicer and Jordan Gilmore put together a dominating effort in the cage in the women's water polo team's season-opening tournament in Redlands on Sunday. The pair combined for 23 saves and just two goals allowed as the No. 7-ranked Panthers upset No. 3 Redlands 10-1 and then knocked off Division II opponent Cal State San Bernardino 11-1. The win against Redlands was the first in the women's program history.

Spicer started in goal against the Bulldogs and posted a shutout in the first half, making six saves. Gilmore relieved her in the second half and made seven saves while allowing just one goal. The roles were reversed against San Bernardino as Gilmore started and didn't allow a goal in the first half. Spicer made six saves in the second half to close out the win.

One day earlier, Spicer earned a season-best finish of 55.92 in the 100-yard freestyle while winning the event in a SCIAC meet against the University of La Verne. The junior sprinter also placed second in the 50-yard free on Saturday with a time of 25.55.
