The Panthers trailed 36-27 with 7:08 remaining in the third quarter after a 13-2 run that started at the end of the second quarter and carried into the beginning of the third. Chapman called a time out, regrouped, and went on a run of its own, cutting the deficit to four.

Senior Julia Strand was again recognized as the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week, following the Panthers’ win over Caltech. Strand posted her eighth double-double of the season to lead the Panthers to the victory.
The Chapman University women’s basketball team picked up its second win in a row with a 72-61 victory over visiting Caltech on Saturday. Julia Strand recorded her eighth double-double of the year and three more players scored in double figures to key the win.

Cole anchored the 400 free relay with the fastest split in the SCIAC this year and nearly brought the win for Chapman. He also helped the Panthers tally some points as he swept the individual sprint freestyle events. He won the 50 free with a 21.26 and captured the event victory in the 100 free with a 47.47.
