Every team over a 3.2, 270 recognized as SCIAC All-Academic

The SCIAC recognized 270 Chapman University student-athletes on its annual All-Academic list. Collectively, Panther student-athletes raised the bar for academic achievement as every team achieved a 3.2 team GPA or better.

Chapman Athletics and the Chapman Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the Second Annual Student-Athlete Awards with 21 team and individual awards handed out to honor on and off field achievements.
SCIAC Establishes Football Championship Game

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) has established a Championship game that will pit the top teams between two pods – dubbed the 'Sun' and 'Surf' divisions – to determine the conference's official champion and recipient of the automatic qualifying berth to the NCAA Championships.
Tapia tabbed as All-American

Senior Owen Tapia was selected as the All-America Third Team punter by D3football.com. He became the fourth punter in Chapman’s history to earn All-America distinction and the second in the last five years.
Special Teams standouts lead four All-Region selections

Four Panthers landed D3football.com All-Region honors, led by a pair of special teams First Team selections. Owent Tapia and Ken Baierl landed the All-Region First Team nods with wide receiver Wyatt Hardin and linebacker Alexander Terriquez each earning a spot on the Second Team.
Football lands 15 on All-SCIAC teams

The Chapman University football team ended the 2022 season with 15 All-SCIAC selections, including nine First Team selections. In total, seven All-SCIAC picks came from the Chapman offense and the Panthers special teams swept the First Team kicking awards.

Football ends season breaking three offensive records

To little surprise with the Panthers’ high-powered offense this season, there were three offensive records broken and one record tied in the victory. Nathaniel Espinoza broke the record for most passing yards in a single season, previously 2,545, the junior hurled for 2,663 passing yards and 30 touchdowns — the other record, which was previously 28 both held by Ian Fieber.
Espinoza, Mendoza named SCIAC Athletes of the Week

Nathaniel Espinoza and Tanner Mendoza were each selected as SCIAC Athletes of the Week after leading the Panthers to a big 65-26 win over Cal Lutheran in Chapman’s home finale. Espinaoza was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week and Mendoza was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Football dominates in senior day victory

The Panthers were in control from start to finish scoring on the first drive of the game through the air, connecting on four consecutive first down passes ending up at the 16. Nathaniel Espinoza connected on his first of five touchdown passes, this one to Spencer Corona, who now sits one touchdown behind David Vaccaro, 18, for the most receiving touchdowns in a Panthers’ career.
Tapia named to D3football.com Team of the Week

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Owen Tapia was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Tapia booted an 80-yard punt, which tops the board for all punts in DIII this season. That punt was also good enough for the third longest across all Divisions for this season.
Ahlers named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

On Monday, Oct. 24, Cooper Ahlers was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week. In football’s 50-7 win over Whittier, Ahlers hauled in two interceptions, creating two of the Panther’s four turnovers. He helped Chapman hold the Poets to a mere 268 yards of total offense and just one touchdown.

A dominant 50-7 win over Whittier sent the Chapman University football team into the bye week with back-to-back wins. Nathaniel Espinoza tied the school record with six touchdown passes in the victory.
Espinoza earns SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week honors

On Monday, Oct. 17 Nathaniel Espinoza was named SCIAC Football Offensive Athlete of the Week. The junior quarterback was electric on the field following the electricity in the sky. Espinoza threw for 405 yards, adding 41 more on the ground as Chapman's leading rusher, helping the Panthers to a 38-28 victory over Redlands.
Football overcomes lightning and Redlands for first SCIAC win

A pair of lengthy lightning delays and a fair amount of rain wasn’t enough to put a damper on the Chapman University football team as the Panthers defeated visiting Redlands 38-28 on Saturday. A super charged Chapman passing game resulted in three different players hauling in over-100 receiving yards.
