The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team was recognized on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s list of Academic Honor Squads. Seven student-athletes also were honored individually on the Academic Honor Roll.
Chapman University student-athletes set a new school record with 281 individuals earning SCIAC All-Academic recognition. The 281 individuals to earn the annual academic recognition are 22 more than year’s record-breaking number. The SCIAC annually recognizes student-athletes who have been at their institution for at least one academic year and finished the school year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better.
On Thursday, May 19 Sophie Pelton was named to the IWLCA All-Region West Second Team. The second year defender had a dominant season, being the only member of the Panthers to be named to an All-Region team. She was also one of the four defenders named to the 16-person squad.
A late run made it a game but the Chapman University women’s lacrosse team fell 22-19 to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals of the SCIAC Tournament. Two school records were tied or set in the high scoring affair.

Cole Kershner
Cole anchored the 400 free relay with the fastest split in the SCIAC this year and nearly brought the win for Chapman. He also helped the Panthers tally some points as he swept the individual sprint freestyle events. He won the 50 free with a 21.26 and captured the event victory in the 100 free with a 47.47.
