Chapman University student-athletes set a new school record with 281 individuals earning SCIAC All-Academic recognition. The 281 individuals to earn the annual academic recognition are 22 more than year’s record-breaking number. The SCIAC annually recognizes student-athletes who have been at their institution for at least one academic year and finished the school year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better.

Chapman University Athletics has selected Juliet Suess as the next Head Coach of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams. Suess will officially begin on August 1 following the retirement of longtime head coach Dennis Ploessel.

The SCIAC Championships came to a close with the women’s team finishing 3rd and the men’s team taking 6th in the team standings. Two more school records were taken down as the Panthers surged to the finish.

Two Panthers reached the podium and three more school records fell on day three of the SCIAC Swimming Championships. The women’s team remains comfortable in third and the men’s team jumped up to seventh in the team standings.

A women’s relay made the podium and a men’s school record fell to highlight day two of the SCIAC Championships in La Mirada, Calif. The women’s team remains in third place and the men’s team in eighth after the second day.

The women’s 200 medley relay team broke a school record to highlight the first day of the 2022 SCIAC Championships. The previous record was set just earlier this year.

Championship season has arrived as the Chapman University swimming teams head to Splash! in La Mirada, Calif. for the 2022 SCIAC Swimming Championships. All nine schools will converge on the facility for the championship meet for the first time since February 2020.

Mckenzie Abbott and Sydney Rabuchin finished in the top-9 as the Chapman University female divers wrapped up the SCIAC Diving Championships on the 1-meter board. Abbott duplicated her finish from yesterday, placing seventh to lead the Panthers.

After more than a quarter century on the pool deck, Chapman University swimming & diving head coach Dennis Ploessel has announced that he will retire after the 2021-22 season. In 26 years at Chapman, Ploessel has overseen tremendous growth in the aquatics program at Chapman.

Freshman Avery Hall sprinted her way into SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honors in the Chapman swimming & diving team’s win over Occidental on Saturday.

The Chapman University swimming & diving teams swept Occidental in the final dual meet of the 2021-22 season. Chapman took event wins in 14-of-26 events. The Chapman women won the dual against the Tigers 134-100 and the men’s team won 103-82.

The Chapman University swimming & diving teams made the trip to the Inland Empire to take on Redlands in a SCIAC dual on Saturday. The Panthers pulled out three event wins but both the men’s and women’s teams fell to the Bulldogs.

The Chapman University swimming and diving teams split a SCIAC dual meet with Cal Lutheran on Saturday at Allred Pool. The women’s team won 198-93 and the men’s team fell 180-84. The women’s team won eight of 14 swimming events.

Sophomore McKenzie Abbott was named the SCIAC Diver of the Week after sweeping the diving events at La Verne on Saturday. She also posted NCAA qualifying marks on both boards.
