Maddie Mirro made her SCIAC debut with an event win and a school record. The freshman took first in the 800 meter run in her first SCIAC Multi-Dual while also breaking the school record set a year ago.
William Crewe already had a record-setting career but he furthered his legacy last weekend by making more history. He became Chapman’s first male SCIAC champion and the third Panther to win a SCIAC title in swimming & diving.
Mack Cheli didn’t waste any time getting started on his junior season. The Panthers’ first baseman put up some video game-like numbers to start the season. Cheli hit an astounding .615 with eight RBIs in the first four games of the season.
Sophomore Alex Rogat shot over 70 percent last week while also leading the Panthers in rebounding. He was 8-for-9 in a 19-point performance in the win over Redlands and 5-for-9 against Caltech. The 6-8 forwards average 16 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week and did not have a turnover.
Sophomore Aki Shigeyama, junior Cody Epstein, and freshmen Zach Lietzke and Scott Fotzpatrick make up the four legs of Chapman University’s men’s track and field 4x400 relay team. Those four men made record-breaking history this past weekend at the SCIAC Championship, becoming the first relay in school history to finish on the podium to end the meet.
