Every team over a 3.2, 270 recognized as SCIAC All-Academic
ORANGE, Calif. – The SCIAC recognized 270 Chapman University student-athletes on its annual All-Academic list. Collectively, Panther student-athletes raised the bar for academic achievement as every team achieved a 3.2 team GPA or better.
The SCIAC annually recognizes student-athletes who have been at their institution for at least one academic year and finished the school year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better.
With 23 student-athletes earning the honor in multiple sports, Chapman had 293 total selections to the SCIAC All-Academic Team - accounting for nearly half of the total student-athletes.
Every team finished the school year with a team GPA between 3.21 and 3.72 as the 582 Panther student-athletes combined for a 3.426 department GPA in 2022-23.
The women's golf team led the department with eight of its nine student-athletes recognized as SCIAC All-Academic – an astonishing 89 percent. The softball team, women's cross country team and women's basketball team all had over 70 percent of their respective rosters earn the academic achievement. Twelve total teams had at least half of its roster recognized for the academic achievement.
Eight student-athletes finished the 2022-23 academic year with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, while 44 total Panthers achieved a GPA over 3.9, including three graduating seniors.
