ABCA names Rauh to All-America first team

ORANGE, Calif. – Having already been named an All-American by D3Baseball.com and West Region Pitcher of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association, Chapman University freshman pitcher Brian Rauh has been selected All-America first team by the ABCA. He is the first freshman baseball player in school history to earn All-America honors.

The rookie right-hander served as Chapman’s ace this season, posting an 11-0 mark and a team-best 2.38 earned run average in over 83 innings on the mound. Rauh also added four saves in seven relief appearances and ranked in the top-10 in Division III in strikeouts (100) and hits allowed per nine innings (5.5).

His perfect record of 11-0 is second only to Devin Drag’s 16-0 season in 2007 in Chapman history.

Rauh helped the Panthers to their eighth consecutive NCAA Division III playoff berth and the Chapman pitching staff ranked No. 3 in the nation in team earned run average with a 3.33 mark. He tossed four complete games and opponents batted just .175 against him in his first collegiate season on the mound.

The West Region Pitcher of the Year was the only freshman in the country named to any of the three ABCA All-America teams. He also earned Division III Independents Pitcher of the Year this season.
