Rauh earns second-career Academic All-District team selection

ORANGE, Calif. – Once again, junior RHP Brian Rauh has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII baseball team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  This is the second selection for Rauh, who was named to the first team this season after being a second team honoree in 2011.

The Lake Forest, Calif. native now has a 30-1 career record with a 1.75 ERA in three seasons.  While earning a 3.53 GPA in business, he has gone 8-1 this season with a 1.15 ERA.  In addition, Rauh is a two-time first team ABCA and D3baseball.com All-American.  In 2010, as a freshman, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) selected him as the NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year.

Earlier this season, Rauh became Chapman's career strikeouts leader, now with 348.  He surpassed the 100-strikeout plateau for the third-consecutive season, and his 115 Ks in 86 innings this season ranks within the top-five in Division III.  The pitcher struck out a career-high 16 batters on April 14 and 15 batters in just seven innings on April 21, in back-to-back games.  He was just one short of a Chapman record with the 16 K's. Rauh has played in 13 games this season, six of which he had 10 or more strikeouts in the game.  Similarly, he has only allowed 11 earned runs, and averages 12.03 strikeouts per game.

Chapman University's baseball team will play their final three games of the season against Redlands. The series begins on Friday at Redlands, while the final two games of season will be at Hart Park on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. The Panthers are currently on a five-game winning streak.

The Capital One Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes in 12 sports annually.  Students must be varsity starters or key reserves, maintain a grade-point average of at least a 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, and hold at least a sophomore standing in order to be eligible.  Chapman is a member of the District VIII NCAA Division III division which includes schools from the West Region.
