McGee signs with Gary Southshore Railcats

GARY, INDIANA – The SCIAC Pitcher of the Year and recent Chapman University grad Travis McGee has signed a professional contract to continue his baseball career with the Gary Southshore Railcats of the American Association (Independent League). The right-hander has already reported to the team and pitched in his first game on June 11.

McGee was outstanding in 2014 for the Panthers, earning All-West Region honors from both the ABCA and D3Baseball.com as well as All-Conference honors. As a senior, he posted a 6-2 record with a 2.59 ERA after recovering from surgery that kept him out all of 2013. McGee struck out 77 in 62.2 innings and allowed a .199 batting average against, helping to lead Chapman to a second-place SCIAC finish and first-ever berth in the conference tournament.

McGee becomes the third Chapman alum to play for the Railcats, following in the footsteps of utilityman Alex Taylor '03 who played in 148 games for Gary (2005-06) and RHP Buddy Klovstad '06 (2006).
