Power of Love earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors

Junior Jared Love came out swinging during the doubleheader last Saturday against Occidental College, helping the Panthers rally from an eight run deficit in the first game and adding to the explosive offense in their second game. Love hit .615 last week with five of his eight hits going for extra bases.

The Panthers first baseman smashed two home runs in Chapman's wild comeback to clinch a spot in the SCIAC Tournament. His solo shot in the fourth helped spark the comeback and his two-run blast in the eighth tied the game at 11-11. The Panthers trailed 11-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Brea, Calif., native also his three doubles last week – two in the series finale. He drove in six RBIs, scored six more times and hit a sacrifice fly.

With his two homers in game two of the series, Love jumped into Chapman's all-time top-10. He now has 17 career home runs in just three years.
