Love named to Academic All-District team

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Jared Love was selected to the Academic All-District VIII team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Love joins a long list of former Panthers to earn the award but is the first baseball student-athlete since 2014 to be selected.

Love has helped power the Panthers' offense this year, leading the team with seven homers and 40 RBIs. Last week, Love hit a solo home run and a game-tying two-run homer in the Panthers comeback victory over Occidental that clinched a bid to the SCIAC Tournament. His 17 career home runs and 38 career doubles rank in Chapman's all-time top-10.

The first baseman from Brea, Calif., is hitting a career-best .400 this year while also slugging .708. His slugging percentage this year ranks as the fifth-highest in Chapman's Division III history. He is setting career-highs in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, homers, RBIs and walks. His 31 walks this year has more than doubled his career total from the previous three years.

In the classroom, Love will complete his Physics degree with a minor in Math this spring with an overall 3.84 GPA.

The Panthers return to the SCIAC Tournament this Friday and will host Redlands at 3 p.m. in the first game of the double elimination tournament.
