Phillips named SCIAC baseball hitter of the week
ORANGE, Calif — Josh Phillips put on a home run hitting clinic, bombing baseballs over the wall left and right this past week, even sending the Panthers home in walk-off fashion, earning him SCIAC baseball hitter of the week on Monday, Mar. 21.
The Panthers hit the field three times over the week, and Phillips sent one into the crowd once each game.
He capped off the week with the biggest of them all, a game winner over Carleton on Sunday, Mar. 20. Phillips stepped up to the dish after an Oli Sellman walk, and with two outs Phillips sent the first-pitch middle-in fastball well over the high left field fence at Hart Park. Everyone, including Phillips, knew it was gone off the bat as he took a side shuffle down the line and tossed the bat in celebration.
Phillips ended the week with four hits, six RBI's, and three homers.
Chapman is back in action on Friday, Mar. 25 as they begin conference play on the road in Redlands at 3 p.m.
