LA VERNE, Calif. — Baseball bounced back stave off elimination, beating the No. 1 seeded La Verne Leopards 16-8 to move on to the SCIAC championship game.
The Panthers broke through in the first, scoring five runs on three hits and four walks. Chapman would not look back from there, tacking on a huge seven spot in the fifth.
Josh Phillips went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer. Oli Sellman added four hits at the plate, including a bases clearing double that capped off the Panther's fifth inning.
Chapman will move on to play Cal Lutheran in the SCIAC championship at La Verne at 3:15 p.m. estimated start time.
