Game Notes:

• Chapman hits the road again having won five consecutive away games and six of its last seven, including their last trip to Claremont in 2012 when the Panthers handed the Stags a 34-14 defeat.

• The battle for the SCIAC crown starts on Saturday and the Panthers are the favorites according to D3Football.com. Chapman is 11-3 in conference play the past two years, including a 5-2 road mark.

• Having gone 15-5 over their last 20 games under Head Coach Bob Owens, the Chapman football program can even its all-time Division III record with a win. The Panthers are 91-92-1 all-time since 1994.

• Senior QB Michael Lahey had a career day on Saturday at Whitworth, totaling exactly 400 yards of offense (302 passing, 98 rushing) and four TDs. The reigning NCAA leader in completion percentage is at it again, completing over 73 percent of his passes in two games (44 of 60) with four TDs and no INTs.

• It's been 'third-and-no problem' for the Panther offense so far this year, converting on over half of its third downs. In Spokane last week, Chapman was 12 of 19 (63 percent) and ranks 14th in Division III in that category.

• With interceptions in back-to-back games to start the season, sophomore DB Conner Larkin now has three interceptions in his career. He's the first Chapman defender since 2012 to earn picks in back-to-back games.

• The Panthers have won three straight against Claremont with their last loss coming in 2010 on the road. The Stags are coming off a 36-14 win over Lewis & Clark (OR) and have allowed just 13.5 pts/g this season. The CMS defense has been stingy, leading the SCIAC in first- and third-down defense as well as interceptions (six).
