SCIAC recognizes 178 Panthers on All-Academic team, every Chapman team above a 3.0

An impressive number of Chapman University student-athletes were again recognized for their work in the classroom. The Panthers placed 178 student-athletes on the SCIAC’s annual All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.

An award-filled postseason continued for freshman punter Elias Deeb as he earned All-American Honorable Mention from D3football.com. Deeb previously earned All-Region and All-SCIAC First Team honors.

After leading the SCIAC in punting all season in every category, rookie punter Elias Deeb was named to D3football.com All-West Region first team for the 2016 season. The punter finished the regular season ranked No. 13 in all of Division III in punting average and is the only freshman to be selected to the All-West Region Team.
Eight Panthers earn All-SCIAC recognition

The Chapman University football team had eight players earn nine All-SCIAC selections following another above .500 season for the Panthers. Five Panthers were selected to the First Team while three players earned four selections to the Second Team.
Football dominates on offense in senior day win, sets two CU records

The Chapman University football team defeated Occidental College 61-37 Saturday afternoon, scoring 40 points in the first half to solidify a final win on senior day. Senior Ethan Weinstein posted a career-best 306 all-purpose yards in this offensive battle helping set one of two Chapman records on the day.

The Chapman University football team fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 17-6 on Saturday afternoon at Zinda Field. The Panthers (4-4 overall, 3-3 SCIAC) defense was led by junior Eddie Favors who recorded 14 tackles, including six solo and one tackle for loss.

Football dominates second half in 27-12 win at Cal Lutheran

Another dominant defensive effort and big days from junior Jacob Isabel and Joe Mudie led the Chapman University football team to a 27-12 road win at Cal Lutheran. The defense allowed less than 300 yards for the second game in a row and the Panthers (4-3, 3-2 SCIAC) moved above .500 for the first time this season.

Senior Ben Wadors earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Chapman University football team to a dominant performance against La Verne and a 30-7 win. Wadors set career-highs with four tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

The Chapman University football team shut down a high-powered La Verne offense to capture a 30-7 win on Saturday. The Panthers (3-3, 2-2 SCIAC) limited La Verne to just 282 yards of offense and forced a pair of turnovers.

A close game broke open late in the third quarter as the Chapman University football team fell 31-13 at Redlands on Saturday. Junior Joe Mudie ran for over 100 yards for the second time this season while senior Devin Ray led the defense with 12 tackles.
