Reyes repeats as SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, freshman Marcos Reyes has been selected as the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. Reyes had another big game, including scoring the game-winning TD.

The freshman from Santa Cruz, Calif. ran for a career-best 132 yards on 19 carries to lead the Panthers on the ground. The highlight from Reyes came in the third quarter when he broke tackle after tackle before bouncing outside for a career-long 57-yard run with the Panthers trailing by one point.

The 57-yarder set up Chapman with first-and-goal from the six and Reyes took the ball twice more for consecutive three-yard runs and a Chapman touchdown. It was Reyes' only score of the night but put the Panthers back on top and proved to be the game-winning after both teams were held scoreless in the fourth.

Reyes ranks second in the conference, averaging 83.1 yards per game but leads the SCIAC with 6.3 yards per carry. The 13-2 yards performance was his third 100-yard game of the season – all coming in the last four weeks.

The Panthers are back at home on Saturday to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7 p.m.
