Parkin earns d3football.com Team of the Week honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Nathan Parkin became the third Panther to earn d3football.com Division III Team of the Week honors this season after helping the Chapman University football team to a crucial 26-21 victory over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday evening.

The awards keep rolling in for the defensive back, who was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week and Chapman's Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Parkin hauled in three interceptions and tallied a career-high five tackles, all of them solo, in the win to help the Panthers keep a perfect 7-0 ledger this season. Two of his three interceptions came in the second half and his third helped seal the win for Chapman.

With 1:10 left on the clock, Parkin picked off a pass in the corner of the endzone for a touchback. The Panthers took over on their own 20-yard line and after a couple of runs they were able to line up in victory formation to secure their seventh straight win.

Parkin's second interception also came at a critical time in the game, giving the ball back to Chapman for the go-ahead drive at the end of the third quarter.

This is his first d3football.com Team of the Week award and the fourth of the season for the Panthers. Chapman returns home to Wilson Field on Saturday, Nov. 9 to host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7 p.m. With a win, the Panthers would earn at least a share of the title of SCIAC Champions.
