Special Teams standouts lead four All-Region selections

ORANGE, Calif. – Four Panthers landed D3football.com All-Region honors, led by a pair of special teams First Team selections. Owen Tapia and Ken Baierl landed the All-Region First Team nods with wide receiver Wyatt Hardin and linebacker Alexander Terriquez each earning a spot on the Second Team.

The Panthers' special teams unit swept the First Team kicking awards Tapia was named the First Team punter and Baierl was selected as the First Team kicker. Both had record-breaking seasons as Baierl became the highest scoring kicker in Chapman history and Tapia bested his own record for the longest punt at Chapman.

Baierl was a career-best 8-for-9 in field goal attempts this year, hitting his last eight in a row. One of his made made field goals was a career-long of 43 yards at CMS. He was also 50-of-52 in extra point attempts, breaking the Chapman single season record with 74 points and running his career total to 211 points. Tapia was called on to punt a career-low 20 times but still averaged 46.5 yards per punt, launching a school record 80-yard punt at Whittier. He landed 11 of his punts inside the 20 and three more rolled into the end zone for a touchback.

Hardin had a breakout year in he final season, grabbing 55 catches for 915 yards and tying the single season school record with 11 TDs. He had three games with over 100 yards receiving and had the fourth-highest singe game total in Chapman history with 239 yards against Cal Lutheran in the September matchup.

Terriquez rounded out Chapman's All-Region selections after a dominant season in the middle of Chapman's defense. His 86 total tackles were the most for a Chapman players since 2018 and 12th-most in Chapman history. He also had career-bests with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss. He had three games with double digit tackles, including a pair of 15-tackle games against George Fox and Pomona-Pitzer.

For Tapia, the First Team selection was the second All-Region honor of his career after earning Third Team honors a season ago. Baierl, Hardin and Terriquez each earned their first career All-Region honors.

The Panthers finished 7-3 for the second season in a row and 4-2 in the SCIAC after putting together a season-ending four-game win streak.
